best senior citizen discounts philadelphiaSenior citizen discounts are one of the perks of getting older (along with greater wisdom and experience!). We at Pennsylvania Agency of Nurses wanted to round up some of the best deals in the greater Philadelphia and surrounding areas, since that is where most of our clients reside. Read on to learn about discounts for food, sports, and culture!

The Philadelphia Museum of Art. Featuring pieces from a broad spectrum of artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe, Cezanne, Monet, Picasso, Rembrandt, Ike Taiga, the Wedgwood Factory and many more, the Philadelphia Museum of Art is a great way to spend an afternoon and broaden cultural and artistic horizons. And here’s the best part: seniors 65 and older get discounted admission ($18 general admission gets you “access for two consecutive days to Museum’s main building, Perelman Building, Rodin Museum, and historic houses Mount Pleasant and Cedar Grove.” Sounds like a great deal to us!

Ben & Jerry’s. Great news – this iconic ice cream chain offers 10% discounts for those 60 and older! With three locations in Philadelphia, it’s easy to grab a scoop yourself, or pick some up for the loved ones in your life getting in home care. Some of our favorite picks: Cherry Garcia, Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream, and Chunky Monkey.

Seniors Stroll the Bases with the Philadelphia Phillies! Here is some exciting news for the springtime: Thursday, April 14 is “Seniors Stroll the Bases” night at Citizens Bank stadium! Tickets are discounted for those in their golden years – typically about $8 obaseball_senior_citizen.jpegff each. Even better – you’ll have an opportunity to stroll (or get wheeled around) the bases after the game. This is definitely a great way to enjoy a Thursday night, especially for the baseball lovers in your family.

Einstein Brothers Bagels. A personal favorite for breakfast and lunch, Einstein’s scores a homerun with their senior discount: 10% off a baker’s dozen (a baker’s dozen is 13 bagels, by the way). This is a great deal for anyone who has a lot of mouths to feed…or a lot of caretakers to thank 😉

Hitting the slopes! Did you know that there are still ski resorts near Philadelphia that offer free lift tickets to seniors 70 and older? While there may not be many people receiving in home care that also have the ability to ski, we thought that this was a worthwhile discount to share regardless. The resorts that participate in this great deal are Bear Creek, Jack Frost, and Big Boulder. If you’re between the ages of 62-69, you don’t get free access to the lifts, but lift tickets will be $60-$70 cheaper…definitely worth it for a day on the slopes!

Blue Mountain Winery. If you read our previous blog on the Mediterranean diet for seniors, you’ll remember that wine can be a pleasant addition to a healthy diet. With that in mind, we wanted to share a great deal that Blue Mountain Vineyards in the Lehigh Valley has: 5% off all future purchases if you simply…join their email list! While it’s not specifically a senior discount, joining an email list is an easy step to take for most seniors (and if it’s not, we’d be happy to help you sign up).

We hope you enjoyed learning about six of the greatest senior citizen discounts we were able to find in the Philadelphia area. Let us know in the comments which ones we missed!
